Job Profile Summary

This position provides computer and technology support by installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, repairing microcomputer hardware, software reconfiguration, network components, multimedia equipment, operating systems, and email systems. Incumbent assists College personnel by diagnosing and correcting hardware and software problems. Works within Campus Technology staff, along with other department staff and vendors. Supervises select number of technology support staff. Performs related work as directed.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.  

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Four or more years of relevant experience in maintaining and repairing computers.

Minimum Certification/Licenses:

  • A+ Hardware and software certification, Current MCSE

Essential Functions:

  • Daily -10%: Installs, configures, maintains, moves, and assists in testing and upgrading new and existing hardware/software, peripherals, systems software, basic networking components and multi-media equipment.
  • Weekly- 5%: Advises users and analyzes user requirements concerning software and the efficient use of information technology systems.
  • Daily- 20%: Troubleshoots and resolves campus hardware, software problems, and multi-media equipment. Responsible for editing layouts, initiating refreshes, tagging equipment to import, maintaining FileMaker and sending disposals to fixed asset managers,  
  • Monthly- 10%: Provides technical assistance and support for applications/hardware problems and for information sharing with external entities in a customer service environment.
  • Other, as Needed- 5%: Attends necessary training and conferences in order to stay current with present and future trends in technology. Provides productive feedback and process improvement ideas to manager.
  • Weekly- 5%: Assists with maintaining information related to hardware and software inventory. Assigns equipment to end users/designated areas and maintains property pass database.
  • Monthly - 5%: Evaluates new equipment in conjunction with College Standards. Maintains warranty database and verify repair eligibility for all devices.
  • Daily-10%: May provide on-call service, with ability to work remotely unsupervised.
  • Weekly -10%: Trains end users on the capabilities and limitations of the available hardware and software. Actively promotes a customer-oriented environment in which the end-user is treated professionally and courteously.
  • Other, as Needed- 10%:Travel between college and non-college locations is required, on occasion. Deemed Essential Personnel in case of emergencies during a suspension of normal operations.
  • Weekly -5%: May act as backup to the Campus Technology Officer on the campus or the Technology Support Supervisor at the district level.
  • Other, as Needed- 5%: Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Requires the application of specific IT concepts within area of technical expertise. Must be proficient in creating, editing, updating, and deleting records.
  • In-depth functional knowledge and expertise in multiple technology environments, programs, languages, databases, etc.
  • Ability to maintain office, storage and meeting areas neat and organized at all times.
  • Ability to manage own time and follow established priorities while participating as an active team member.
