Job Profile Summary

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting Apple devices (iPads, iPhone, iMacs, MacBooks) and associated software, and College-wide technology initiatives. Assists College personnel by researching, diagnosing, and correcting hardware and software problems. Works within Campus Technology staff, along with other department staff and vendors. Provides technical assistance to technicians and end-users at on-site and remote locations. Based on demands, evening and weekend hours and trips to other college locations are required.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related program is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • An equivalent of experience and education may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Four years or more of relevant experience in supporting end-users, technology devices, and applications.
  • Apple and Batch Scripting 

Minimum Certification/Licenses:

  • Required: CompTIA A+ 
  • Preferred: CompTIA Network+ 
  • Preferred: Apple Certified Support Professional

Essential Functions:

  • Daily - 20%: Responds to assigned and escalated Help Desk tickets from technicians, students, faculty, and staff seeking technical assistance.  
  • Daily - 10%: Supports the Graphic and Music computer labs operating system and software deployments.
  • Daily - 10%: Installs, configures, maintains, moves, and assists in testing and upgrading new and existing hardware/software, peripherals, systems software, basic networking components and multi-media equipment.
  • Weekly - 10%: Creates processes and documentation on how to install and troubleshoot Apple software and hardware.
  • Weekly - 10%: Researches, evaluates, and recommends best practice to implement new technology and changes to the current technology infrastructure.
  • Weekly - 10%: Collaborates with IT and academic departments to implement new technology initiatives as well as provide solutions to existing problems and requests.
  • Monthly - 5%: Attends necessary training and conferences in order to stay current with present and future trends in technology. Provides productive feedback and process improvement ideas to supervisor.
  • Weekly - 5%: May provide on-call service, with ability to work remotely unsupervised.
  • Other, as Needed - 10%: Provides guidance and training to end-users and technicians on the capabilities and limitations of the Apple hardware and software. Actively promotes a customer-oriented environment in which the end-user and technician is treated professionally and courteously.
  • Monthly - 5%: Travels to college and non-college locations is required, on occasion. Deemed Essential Personnel in case of emergencies during a suspension of normal operation.
  • Other, as Needed - 5%: Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced Knowledge of frequently used Apple concepts, practices and procedures for installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, repairing computer hardware, OSX operating systems, Apple script, software packaging, Active Directory services, Mobile Device Management solution, Active Directory and/or Azure Active Directory administration, email client, Office365 applications, audiovisual equipment, video conferencing software, network components, IP desk and virtual telephone, Adobe Creative Cloud suite, audio and video editing software, Final Cut Pro.
  • Requires the application of specific IT concepts within area of technical expertise. Must be proficient in creating, editing, updating, and deleting records.
  • In-depth functional knowledge and expertise in multiple technology environments, programs, languages, databases, etc.
  • Ability to maintain office, storage and meeting areas neat and organized at all times.
  • Ability to manage own time and follow established priorities while participating as an active team member.
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee and student population
  • Ability to understand the operational goals, policies and objectives of own work and job standards.
