ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Office of Decision Support (ODS) facilitates leadership decision-making by providing data analysis, business solutions and reporting for USF and to coordinate academic planning, reporting and related needs for USF. ODS supports the University by ensuring competitive performance, compliance with regulations and policies, and institutional accreditation.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As part of the ODS-Academic Planning and Operational Reporting (APOR) team, the Data Management Analyst has a high-level of experience with writing queries and reports for higher education using SQL programming language. The incumbent is also responsible for the creation of custom dashboards and alignment with USF's business requirements in order to support the institution's decision-making and planning processes, all while adhering to data integrity protocols.

The incumbent is responsible for communicating with data requestors, analyzing needs, providing assistance, and translating user requests into technical specifications in order to create useful and effective queries and reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops custom student information system database queries and reports in response to complex requirements from the University community, while adhering to data integrity and security protocols.
Maintains data confidentiality and integrity to protect confidential student and institutional data in accordance with federal, state, and University guidelines.

Develops and deploys custom dashboards, using various reporting tools, to support business requirements and support the institution's decision-making and planning processes.
Utilizes established project management tools for planning, coordinating and tracking the progress of the work.

Maintains internal databases.

Writes documentation to provide user support for the production of the custom reports and dashboard and for internal process support.

Communicates directly with the University's end-user community relative to their transactional data needs and requests and analyzes and translates their requests into technical specifications.
Collaborates with other University technicians in the development of reports.

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in a directly related field.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

PREFERRED:

Advanced SQL programming skills;
Experience creating Power Bl reports and visualizations;
Experience in higher education data reporting and business/operations analysis;
Knowledge of the Banner Student Information System.
