ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Established in 2008, the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences is breaking new ground by combining knowledge gained through the behavioral sciences with knowledge gained from the community. Our emphasis on behavioral science reflects a focus on individuals, emphasizing behavioral research that examines the problems and challenges people encounter, as well as their need for clinical and supportive services. Our emphasis on community science reflects our commitment to understanding the larger contextual factors that have an impact on the well-being and safety of individuals and their families, such as the effectiveness of systems and policies that impact and support the well-being of individuals. We accomplish this by engaging community and neighborhood stakeholders in a partnered, participatory manner and by collaborating with local, state, and national organizations in both the public and private sectors.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of the Communications and Marketing Officer for the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences is to develop and coordinate a wide variety of programs and activities designed to promote and publicize USF at the system, college, campus, department or program level that is not achievable without a dedicated expert. The position may serve as a media contact for an organizational unit and coordinate special events. The Communications and Marketing Officer writes and/or edits marketing and promotional materials such as brochures,
flyer on-line and multimedia content.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, develops, writes, edits, publishes, maintains, coordinates, and/or oversees various publications for the college, including actual print production (if necessary) and electronic distribution. These include essays, news articles, news releases, brochures, materials, banners, annual reports/accreditation reports, marketing email blasts, program support or special project materials. Develops print & digital assets for advertising campaigns to market and promote essential programs, events, & projects for departments/schools in the college. Oversees production of materials and selects vendors. Redevelops content for social media. Emails college alumni/donors.
Oversees graphic design projects for the college, providing imagery for publications, invitations, banners, advertisements, digital campaigns, online courses, or other materials. Serves as photographer, videographer, and audio specialist.
Plans and coordinates special events for the college, such as scholarship events,
graduation events, Week of Welcome events, community events, fundraising events, and other special events for the college. Develops campaigns using Constant Contact, Salesforce, or similar software to promote specific projects, events, initiatives.
Collaborates with the webmaster on the maintenance of web pages. Includes posting messages, news releases, photos, templates, and other information. Writes content for landing pages related to advertising campaigns for student recruitment. May make web corrections and build pages. Write, edit, and/or revise content for the college's social media accounts and reposts open positions on LinkedIn. Consults Google Analytics and creates vanity URLs and QR codes.
Guides CBCS departments on social media management, USF branding,
messaging, and logo usage. Assists faculty in marketing their projects and
productions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a High School diploma and 6 years of related experience, OR a bachelor's degree and 2 years of directly related experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
A bachelor's degree and two years of experience in a communications and marketing role. Experience in digital content creation, including publications, photography, and videography. Adobe Suite and AP Style preferred.
