The Office of Accounting Services is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team as an Accountant III for Student Activities Financial Reporting.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position is responsible for all aspects of Georgia State University Auxiliary Athletics, Athletic Association and Student Activities Financial Reporting.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Responsible Athletics and Athletic Association Financial Reporting including preparing original budget from data submitted by Athletics and Athletic Association, extending budgets and preparing budget amendments; preparing journal entries; preparing monthly financial reports; reconciling expenditures between Athletics and Athletic Association and moving expenses and revenue monthly; reviewing student detail for Athletic Association housing transactions; preparing closing plan entries; and completing monthly bank account reconciliation; completing monthly reconciliation of gate receipts; completing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and trial balance reviews to ensure accurate ledger balances.
Responsible for all aspects of Student Activity Financial Reporting including preparing original budget from data submitted by Student Activity Groups, extending budgets and preparing budget amendments; tracking expenditures and cash deposits; preparing journal entries; preparing monthly financial reports and report of mandatory fees; preparing closing plan entries; calculating fund balance report based on capitalized projects; completing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and trial balance reviews and working with State Auditors on Student Activity inquires.
Serving as the Agency and Study Abroad Accountant responsible for daily/weekly setting up of new Agency Accounts, running the monthly Agency and Study Abroad Deficit Report and working with the custodians and program directors on any deficit balances and yearly preparing the Schedule 17 for the Annual Financial Reports, closing Agency and Study Abroad Accounts and working with the State Auditors on Agency and Study Abroad account issues.
Perform other related duties as assigned.


NOTE: This position requires working some evening and weekend hours during July – August for duties related to Fiscal Year-End Close.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience. Must be bondable for some positions.
Preferred Requirements:

Advanced Excel skills.
PeopleSoft Financials and Banner experience.
