Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure, and in collaboration with colleagues, this position is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the university’s data network.

Core responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Design, test, and deploy network-based solutions to address technology challenges.
Provide technical leadership on complex projects, assisting other network engineers.
Monitor network performance and fault detection systems, correcting problems in a timely manner.
Recommend opportunities to improve service and meet the anticipated network infrastructure needs of the university.
Provide third-tier support for network issues and maintain system documentation.
Conditions of Employment
This position will require additional hours beyond the typical work week, especially evenings and weekends around major activities and events, to meet the business needs of the operation.
Flexibility for occasional local travel as needed is required.
Information Security: This position requires administrative access to the College’s information systems and/or sensitive College data. The incumbent is expected to be aware of and adhere to the Information Security policies of the College as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to follow information security best practices applicable to their job area and to pursue information security training and awareness opportunities when possible.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Demonstrated understanding of networking technologies and protocols, specifically Ethernet and TCP/IP, with knowledge of how they work together in an enterprise network.
Experience in enterprise network design and implementation, particularly in IP routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS).
Experience working with network security technologies and applying industry best practices.
Understanding of data center technologies (MLAG, EVPN/VXLAN, micro-segmentation) and cloud networking operations (AWS, Azure).
Experience with multiple networking products and vendors, including routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, and network automation technologies (Python/Ansible).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a similar field directly related to the position.
Juniper/Cisco network certifications.
Project management experience.
