The Department of Mathematics at South Dakota Mines invites applications for a full-time Instructor, Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer of Mathematics with the anticipated start date of Fall Semester 2024. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track, term position with benefits. A minimum of a master’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field is required. Expectations include teaching introductory undergraduate mathematics courses to engineering and science majors and participating in program and course assessment.

Though the primary focus of this position is mathematics instruction, an additional expectation is assisting with the development and expansion of online mathematics courses. Consequently, the successful candidate will have a record of excellence in teaching introductory mathematics courses such as Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus to students in STEM majors, with preference given to individuals with experience in the design and teaching of online courses.

The department offers a B.S. degree in Mathematics along with specializations in Actuarial Science and Data Science, and minors in Mathematics and Computational Statistics. Faculty members are actively involved in a variety of interdisciplinary research and service activities across the campus.
