About the Department:

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as master’s degrees in Digital Forensics and Telecommunications. The department is home to over 30 faculty members and over 880 students, including about 290 graduate students. Our research portfolio is thriving, with faculty actively engaged in research in a diverse range of fields such as bioengineering, communications and networking, computer engineering, controls and robotics, cyber-physical systems, cyber security, digital forensics, machine learning, nanoelectronics, power systems, quantum computing, signal processing, and space-based systems.

The ECE department also supports other Mason Engineering programs through interdisciplinary collaboration in both education and research and has close ties with other departments such as the Departments of Bioengineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security Engineering, Information Sciences and Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. Projects and hands-on activities are at the core of many of our educational programs where interdisciplinary projects and courses are highly integrated into the curriculum. Thousands of students have graduated from our department’s accredited programs and gone on to prosperous careers in engineering and related fields. The department has close collaborations with industry and receives strategic direction and insight on cutting edge technologies from its company partners and industrial advisory board that translate into innovative curricular and research initiatives. About the Position:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for one or more renewable-term, non-tenure-track faculty positions at the academic rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, or at the rank of Instructor, beginning Fall 2024.

Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels across in-person, hybrid and online formats; contribute to the development and enhancement of course and lab materials, syllabi, and instructional resources in alignment with program objectives, departmental standards, and industry best practices; advise students; participate in all aspects of the department’s mission; and serve the profession.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate or Full Professor must have received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent in a related field by the start date of the position, and should have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and curriculum development. Applicants who have received a MS degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent in a related field will be considered for Instructor position.

Senior candidates with established records of excellent teaching will be eligible for a term associate professor or professor position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants in all areas of Power and Energy Systems will be given serious consideration. We are particularly interested in candidates in the area of Renewable Electric Energy Systems. Candidates who can build collaborations with other departments within the College and across the University will benefit from the strong support and encouragement for interdisciplinary collaboration within the college and the university.
