Position Highlights

The Privacy Officer (PO) is responsible for directing the privacy compliance functions of the Compliance Office. The PO serves as the Chief Privacy Officer for the organization and provides guidance and strategic consultation to faculty, staff and administration on privacy matters. Develops, implements, and maintains the privacy compliance components of the Corporate Compliance Program. Advises the Board and leadership on privacy compliance matters. Develops privacy work plans and reports conclusions and recommendations to ensure an effective, efficient approach for evaluating and improving the activities of the Center. Oversees all privacy investigations and the Center's privacy monitoring programs. Directs, oversees, and/or perform a variety of assignments to promote compliance with government rules and regulations and organizational policies and procedures. Maintain extensive and current knowledge of HIPAA, health care compliance/privacy and provides privacy education and training to leadership, faculty and Team Members.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Directs all components of the Privacy Program in support of the Compliance Office.
  • Analyzes and assesses organization activities for potential privacy compliance problems.
  • Oversees the development and delivery of privacy compliance education and training.
  • Oversees development and completion of privacy compliance audit work plans based on risk assessment.
  • Oversees management of privacy monitoring software and other compliance program applications as necessary.
  • Manages internal and external privacy compliance staff; evaluates performance.

Credentials and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies, Nursing, Business, Health Care, Compliance or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of previous general health care office, privacy or health care consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal healthcare program privacy requirements. (HIPAA, HITECH Act, etc.).
  • Plus three (3) years leadership experience as supervisor, team/project lead, or above is required (may be inclusive of overall experience).

***In lieu of a Bachelors degree, will consider candidates with a minimum of 8 years experience, along with Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC) or Privacy (CHPC).***

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Law, Nursing, Business, Health Care, Compliance or related field.
  • Compliance Certification (CHC, CHPC, CHRC or CCEP)
