About the Department
Security Applications and Technologies (SAT) consults, designs, integrates and maintains the network of security technologies at NC State University. As a department of Environmental Health and Public Safety, we serve and support campus departments, satellite facilities, and corporate partners. The enterprise-level security technologies include electronic door access, video, intrusion detection, and emergency communication.
Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of the IT Integration and Solutions Professional I is to provide application support and configuration on enterprise applications and services that fall within the SAT domain, including access control, audio, video, and voice systems. This position serves as Tier II/III application and system support and subject matter expert on end-user configuration of SAT systems. It is the primary point of contact with various campus organizations.

Job duties include but are not limited to:
Delegates lower level requests to field technicians and lower level application team. Escalates more complex technical issues to the IT Operations team.
Develops own work schedule and monitors progress against defined parameters with minimal supervision.
Initiates and escalates systemic issues and seeks collaboration with IT Operations and Development on high level and complex technical issues related to security platforms.
Is the subject matter expert on all security applications and the associated down stream devices.
Proactively updates firmware to hardware bi-annually or as needed.
Assists IT Operations with upgrades, patches and fixes to the platform.
Identifies technology currently available as well as additional needs required to support assigned systems
Leads external project completion and certification process. Consults 3rd party security vendors and onboards all capital and 3rd party security installations.
Serves on project teams and may serve as a team lead.
Alternates on-call responsibilities, to include responding to 24/7 service requests and troubleshoot/repair interconnected, complicated electronic systems.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Master’s degree and at least one year of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree with at least two years’ of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of various types of structured cabling to include low voltage and data cabling installation and termination
Understanding of IP configuration, web client access for testing purposes
Ability to perform basic network switch configuration, troubleshooting basics including telnet and pinging of multiple IP devices
Ability to follow operating procedures and established processes for troubleshooting and maintenance routines
Knowledge of virtual networking and networking concepts
Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks
Ability to learn departmental procedures related to hardware deployment
Detail-oriented and ability to organize and track tasks
Ability to work with senior technician to process hardware that needs repair or returns to manufacturers
Ability to learn configuration standards and apply standards consistently to technology programs to ensure consistency among SAT projects
Capable of learning various manufacturers device nuances and configuration requirements, and understanding how these configurations are applied to installation and integration with NC State security network
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise with TCP/IP networking equipment
SQL query experience
Comprehensive knowledge of software and ip hardware systems related to SAT systems
Knowledge of current National Building Codes, security industry best-practices and licensing, low voltage electronics, and NC State building standards
