Job Function:

Minimum Education:

1.Successful completion of the eighth grade.

Minimum Experience:

1.Must have clean body, teeth, hair, nails, and clothing. 2.No allergies to soaps, cleaning agents, chemicals, or other materials or environmental factors in food service, e.g. steam, dust, etc. 3.Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, and university policies, procedures, communications, and perform basic mathematical calculations. 4.Must be able to perform all physical and mental requirements outlined in each job duty/responsibility. 5.You must be 18 years or older.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, tear down, clean and sanitize dish machine daily and/or as used. Check for proper temperatures and functioning of soap and wetting agents dispensing. Properly pre-soak silverware to prevent tarnishing and damage. Wash and properly store china, glassware, silverware, stainless steel pans, thermos vacuums, small hand tools, and other food service equipment.
  • Keep all dish storage carts, dish room shelving and cabinetry, ice machine, and oval tray carts clean and sanitized.
  • Maintain neatness and good organization in the Student Center and Alumni Center dish room at all times.
  • Remove stains and soak interior of insulated vacuum containers to 'sweeten' and remove beverage odors.
  • Wash aprons, kitchen smocks, catering shirts and specialty linens. Use appropriate stain removers and procedures. Refill detergent and bleach reservoirs as needed. Keep laundry equipment clean inside and out. Remove lint traps and empty.
  • May be assigned to plan, organize and assemble serving equipment and supplies in advance according to contractual specifications, place the items in an enclosed upright cart or load onto appropriate transport carts and attach contract/ completed checklist to appropriate cart.
  • Manually scrape away loose soil, soak (if needed), wash, rinse, and sanitize pots, pans, and other food service equipment. Air dry when possible. Store clean pans upside down on shelving. Less soiled stainless pans may be washed and sanitized using the dish machine.
  • Keep pan shelving clean and dust free at all times and all pan sinks, cabinetry, back splash chemical dispensers and disposal, clean, odor free, and sanitized daily.
  • May be assigned to work along side employees in the set-up, service and tear down of events including, but not limited to buffets, bar service and special events on-site or off-site.
  • Count and otherwise prepare linens and uniforms for pick-up by the vendor. Requires accurate records be maintained. Check in clean laundry deliveries and properly store items. Keep linens neat and well organized. Report unusable quality linens and those requiring mending or repair to management.
  • May perform general helper duties including but not limited to: ingredient pre-preparation, ingredient assembly, plating trays or plates with food, gathering foods or equipment for transport, assisting with table setting, assembly of box lunches and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Practice good safety and sanitation at all times. Secure the Student Center and/or Alumni Center when scheduled as the last employee with keys on duty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
