Duties
To identify changes and trends in healthcare computer and systems technology and interpret their
meaning to senior management. To participate in overall business planning and manage the health
information technology budget, and many large project budgets, for a large academic medical center.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Oversees all department financial functions such as operational planning, capital planning, annual
UA IT plan, budgeting, reporting, and controls.
2. Leads the process of, and compiling information for the annual IT plan for the UA Board of Trustees.
Provides oversight of any general administrative support to the IT function / department.
3. Establishes, maintains, monitors, and reports expense budgets within corporate financial policies
using accounting/budgeting controls, standards, guidelines, and tools.
4. Oversees the financial tracking of large projects and major initiatives (for example, Epic HER)
5. Develops, documents, and maintains an annual budgeting plan and repeatable process.
6. Develops and maintains accurate chargeback models and reporting for IT services provided.
7. Develops and leads the implementation and maintenance of all vendor management functions.
8. Oversees the purchasing and procurement processes for the department.
9. Oversees the management of contracts and vendor relationships for the IT function.
10. Establishes the standards, procedures and guidelines that direct all aspects of IT vendor
management, consistent with corporate procurement and financial policies and controls.
11. Partners with HSIS Project and Planning Services (PPS) and other multi-departmental leadership
and other stakeholders to locate opportunities and develop and prioritize project plans and project
budgets and tracking mechanisms according to relevant requirements.
12. Represents Health System Information Services as part of the Hospital Leadership Team.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree in information systems, finance, accounting, business, or a related field and ten (10)
years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strong financial management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to lead others in team projects
Demonstrated organizational, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage and/or resolve issues affecting healthcare systems
Experience with financial planning, financial analysis, and P&L statements and reporting is preferred
Demonstrated expertise within healthcare financial operations, systems, and settings
