The Student Information Systems (SIS) Functional Analyst for the Registrar's Office is a member of Ball State's Student Systems and Reporting group. The SIS Functional Analyst coordinates efforts for technological initiatives, develops systems related to student services, and provides technical support for hardware and software within the office. The SIS Functional Analyst works to maintain student records and collaborates with Banner developers to enhance user experience within the Student Information Systems (SIS). This position implements the requirements and process improvement into actionable plans to be implemented by key stakeholders, including Information Technology Services and third-party vendors.

Job Function:
The Student Information Systems (SIS) Functional Analyst for the Registrar's Office is a member of Ball State's Student Systems and Reporting group. The SIS Functional Analyst coordinates efforts for technological initiatives, develops systems related to student services, and provides technical support for hardware and software within the office. The SIS Functional Analyst works to maintain student records and collaborates with Banner developers to enhance user experience within the Student Information Systems (SIS). This position implements the requirements and process improvement into actionable plans to be implemented by key stakeholders, including Information Technology Services and third-party vendors.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university by date of appointment. Or, in lieu of a Bachelor's degree: an Associate's degree plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT/technology equivalent to 2 years. Or, a high school diploma or GED plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT/technology equivalent to 4 years.
Minimum Experience:
At least one year of experience with enterprise student information systems, specifically Ellucian Banner, with a track record of increasing experience and responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads efforts related to technological improvements. As a member of the systems team, establishes priorities for technology initiatives. Keeps abreast of technological changes that may enhance the services provided by the office. In conjunction with the Director of Student Systems and Reporting, develops and writes functional specifications and works with developers to implement modifications to the system.
- Technical and functional liaison with Information Technology Services.
- Assists in the coordination, development, and enhancement of all student services related to systems and third-party integrations. Develops testing scenarios for SIS functionality related to all student records areas, including customizations. Investigates new functionality and understands current processes within student records. Coordinates and performs testing of software modules within the SIS and related software systems when new releases, patches, bundles, critical updates, and modifications are made.
- Writes and maintains queries and reports using Argos and Banner tools. Utilizes reporting tools to extract data for analysis, testing, or distribution.
- Supports the Director of Student Systems and Reporting with access to student records data by reviewing the requests for access and coding security credentials based on the client's needs. Acts as backup for security decisions when necessary.
- Aid in the troubleshooting of problems relating to Registrar's Office processes and workflow in the production environment.
- Responsible for anticipating and successfully resolving any system problems that arise.
- Provide quality oversight on tasks and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain expert technical and operational knowledge of the Registrar's Office's systems.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in implementing new systems or modules related to student data.
- Participate in centralized data clean-up efforts working to identify, create, test and run needed data clean-up scripts
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
