What Your Job Will Be Like:
Organization 05473, Integrated Technical Systems, is seeking a qualified applicant to join our unique team as a R&D General Technologist.
The successful candidate will need to be self-directed, innovative, organized, and possess well-developed interpersonal communications skills.
On any given day, one may be called upon to:
- Team with project leadership to procure, receive, organize, and store inventory for electrical and mechanical assemblies of test and flight hardware
- Manage electrical and mechanical calibrations and inventory.
- Manage department-owned lab and assembly bay space in close coordination with the project teams.
- Assist teams with fielding logistics including manning tables, travel, materials movement and training.
- Assist larger team with mechanical and electrical activity level work, as needed and as appropriate.
- Assist and manage records in the Corporate JCTR system for Center 5400
The ability to travel frequently for extended periods in support of fielding operations (~4-6 times a year, 1-3 weeks duration). Due to the nature of work, this candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$60,300 - $116,000
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- High school diploma plus two years of related experience; or Associates degree in related field
- Proficiency with Microsoft software
- An active DOE Q-clearance and willingness to obtain additional security clearances as required
Qualifications We Desire:
- Completed additional coursework beyond high school to enhance education and knowledge
- Current P-card holder or willingness to obtain one
- Familiarity with programs delivering high value flight hardware
- Familiarity with inventory control
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex array of purchasing across multiple programs.
- Proficiency with databases, including skills in tracking, organizing, and managing large quantities of data.
- Experience with verbal and written interpersonal communication within teams and with external stakeholders.
- Familiarity and experience with Confluence
- Ability to work effectively in secure environments
About Our Team:
Center 5400’s mission is in developing and demonstrating game-changing systems and technologies to solve our warfighters’ most challenging, urgent and high-risk problems to defend our nation and defeat threats to National Security.
Department 5473, part of the Enabling Capabilities group, supports Center 5400 by ensuring consistent interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements. We focus on enhancing the safety and security of the Center's workforce and lab operations. Our team provides comprehensive safety, security, logistics, and operational support for all programs and activities within Center 5400.
Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
