We are seeking a Year-Round - Technical Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Support project teams with the design and evaluation of explosive components
• Sort through various record types to archive important documentation, working with subject matter experts to learn about the history of our explosive components
• Utilize skills in data analytics, teamwork, written and verbal communications, organization, and structured problem solving

Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

• Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

• Experience with or knowledge of energetic materials or components
• General knowledge of fundamental technical principles in a science, engineering, or math related field
• Ability to apply critical thinking to technical data
• Ability to analyze and organize data in order to best preserve contents and material
• Strong working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
• Ability to effectively work in a collaborative team environment in addition to individual contributions

About Our Team:

Department 7553 is one of three Departments that has Mission responsibility for all explosive components in the nuclear weapons stockpile. All three departments (7552, 7553, and 7557) are located in the Explosive Components Facility (ECF), Bldg. 905. We carry out a broad range of research, development, and application activities on explosive phenomena, the chemistry of explosives, explosive detection, surety, surveillance, component development and advanced explosive systems. We serve a large and diverse customer set that includes many Sandia organizations, the DOE complex, DoD agencies, and commercial partners. Department 7553 has primary responsibility for the design of explosive components.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
