What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Logistics Operations Manager to join the 10260 team and lead the Corporate Storage, Reapplication, and Business Services (10263) organization of Sandia National Laboratories.

The department has responsibility for Sandia’s Corporate Storage, Reapplication, and Bus Services. The department enables Sandia’s mission by effectively managing over 140,000 square feet of storage space (classified, unclassified general, nuclear, radioactive, and explosive material) for mission customers, and provides all on-site movement of hazardous and explosives materials including the receipt and handling of explosives. The Reapplication team provides services for the reutilization and disposition of excess property through various disposition channels and donation/gifting pathways. The disposition process entails performing destruction services for sensitive documents and personal property; Performing high-risk reviews and destruction to adhere to federal regulations.

Each area adheres to strict programmatic and regulatory requirements to ensure that materials are handled and maintained safely and securely.

On any given day, you may be called upon to:

  • Read, understand, and interpret Code of Federal Regulations, DOE Orders, Prime Contract and Sandia Policy pertaining to Personal Property Management to ensure that customer and mission needs are satisfied.
  • Partners closely with outside agencies including DOE/NNSA, Organizational Property Management Officer (OPMO), and SFO Contracting Officers to ensure effective management and control of Sandia’s Personal Property.
  • Develop and coordinate an overall strategy to ensure the Corporate Storage and Reapplication objectives and critical projects are met.
  • Manage operations to ensure Safety and Security requirements and Corp Storage and Reapplication deliverables are met on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition and disciplinary actions.
  • Balance the acquisition and development of staff resources, capabilities, and existing and future projects or programs.
  • Cross-functional partnering between external suppliers, internal customers, Sandia’s functional areas, and other supply chain management functions and departments.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$114,000 - $193,600

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline plus eight or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a required DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Master’s degree in Business Management or related relevant discipline.
  • Two years of demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Minimum of at least one year managing represented employees.
  • Knowledge of Union contracts and experience with Employee and Labor Relations.
  • 49CFR/IATA Certifications or the ability to obtain these certifications.
  • Current and active DOE Q-level clearance.
  • Knowledge and experience with DOE Orders, including regulations and requirements and policies and procedures related to hazardous materials management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Coaching, mentoring and staff development skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Property Management functions, including regulations and requirements and policies and procedures related to property management.
  • Working knowledge of relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in using critical thinking and independent judgment to identify and solve problems and effectively negotiate solutions.
  • Experience on complex system teams with a reputation for delivering results.

About Our Team:

The Logistics Organization, 10260, is part of the Integrated Supply Chain Management Center, 10200. The Logistics Organization is comprised of four departments with ~ 120 employees and has responsibility for providing the following services: Managing Sandia’s Hazardous Materials Packaging and Transportation Program (HMPT), Handling hazardous and classified material, Managing the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Program, providing logistical support for 1958 United States (U.S.) – United Kingdom (U.K.) Mutual Defense Agreement (MDA), Managing Sandia’s Property Management System, Tracking property through disposition, Providing destruction services, Receiving and delivering packages, Receiving Warehouse Operations and Managing fabrication requests.
