Tennessee State University (TSU) is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Compliance and Technical Support for the Financial Aid Office. The Financial Aid Office reports to the Vice President for Business and Finance.
The Assistant Director of Compliance and Technical Support will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding financial aid programs. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in developing technical solutions for the compliance and regulatory requirements of financial aid administration. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated proficiency with Ellucian Banner technologies, enterprise reporting solutions such as Evisions Argos, relational database and IDE tools such as SQL Developer, and experience writing advanced SQL queries for these solutions. The ideal candidate will provide technical support, streamline processes, and ensure the integrity of financial aid data while enhancing the overall efficiency of the office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Compliance Management:
· Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to financial aid.
· Assist in the preparation for audits and program reviews, including gathering necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
· Remain current with changes in financial aid regulations and implement necessary updates to office procedures.
Technical Support:
· Provide technical support for Banner products, ensuring that the financial aid module operates effectively and efficiently.
· Develop and maintain reports and queries using Evisions Argos and Oracle SQL to analyze financial aid data and support decision-making processes.
· Design population selections and batch posting processes in Ellucian Banner.
· Write queries for use in Banner rules using Oracle SQL.
· Develop and maintain automation of Banner processes using Automic Application Manager/UC4.
· Develop Oracle SQL queries in order to gather data for surveys and research requests.
· Collaborate with IT and other departments to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to financial aid systems.
Process Improvement:
· Identify areas for improvement in financial aid processes and recommend solutions to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
· Develop and implement training materials and sessions to educate staff on compliance issues, software updates, and best practices.
Data Management, Analysis, and Assessment:
· Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial aid data within the Banner system and other reporting tools.
· Conduct regular audits of financial aid data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as necessary.
· Complete extensive testing of new Ellucian Banner software releases related to the financial aid module.
Leadership and Management:
· Supervise one to two financial aid staff through fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
· Serve as a point of contact for financial aid staff and students regarding compliance inquiries and technical support needs.
· Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree preferred, bachelor’s degree required from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Requires a minimum of three years of direct related experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Ellucian Banner and federal financial aid regulations.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with financial aid software and data management.
• History of using technology to engage constituents.
