The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology-Oncology is recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.



Under general supervision from a designated administrator, assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients in malignant hematology with a primary focus in bone marrow transplant. The individual will provide patient/family education and will be expected to participate in teaching activities for students, residents and fellows.

Essential Functions
Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of bone marrow transplant patients.
Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
Participate in research and development projects.
Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students and medical students.

Minimum Requirements
Nurse Practitioner:

Required Education
A Master's degree in nursing and graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Required Trainings/Certifications

Current/valid APRN license to practice in the state of Ohio with prescriptive authority prior to start.
Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
Required Experience
At least three (3) years nursing experience.

Physician Assistant:

Required Education
Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies.
Required Trainings/Certifications

Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Current/valid PA license to practice in the state of Ohio.
Required Experience
A minimum of one year PA experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered
At least 2-3 years of experience working and treating patients with Hematology-Oncology related health issues.
Comfortable with conducting shared medical appointments.
Comfortable with public speaking and presenting in front of large groups.
Individual should enjoy being part of multi-disciplinary team.
