The Department of Teaching and Leading in the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) at Augusta University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in teacher education. The position is intended to be filled at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor commensurate with education and experience. The position emphasizes engaging teaching, fostering community in the classroom, and promoting student success. The position further requires the candidate to maintain an active research agenda, including regular publications, professional presentation, and external grant submissions.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 60%
Developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in teacher education.
Supervising fieldwork.
Research - 30%
Conducting and mentoring research.
Publishing scholarship.
Pursuing external funding.
Participating in other scholarly activity
Service - 10%
Providing service to the college, the university, the community, and the profession.
Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate degree from an accredited university in Education Curriculum and Instruction or related field.
Ability to develop national/international reputation for research and obtain external research funding.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, or experience
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation
- Evidence of ability as a teacher
- Evidence of activity as a scholar ability in all other duties assigned
- Successful experience
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in early literacy, K-12 teaching experience, higher education teaching experience, experience engaging in research in P-20 settings, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and to mentor students.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.
Assistant Professor-Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor-Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
