College/Department Information
The Augusta University School of Public Health was established in 2023 to address Georgia's distinct public health challenges through exceptional education, innovative research, and collaborative community engagement. We are leveraging the strengths of Georgia's only public academic medical center, combining public health expertise with clinical knowledge to train future public health leaders. Our school is comprised of three academic departments: Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Data Science, Community & Behavioral Health Sciences, and Health Management, Economics & Policy. We offer a variety of degree programs, from specialized master's options to doctoral programs that create the next generation of public health researchers. Our research mission is critical to our long-term impact; we strongly emphasize scholarly productivity through peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations, and grant-funded projects. Annually, we attract more than $6M in extramural funding.
Job Summary
The Grant Development Specialist 2 is responsible for comprehensive administrative services such as: research administration, budgetary and financial management, project planning and development, purchasing and procurement administration, general administrative and human resources responsibilities.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Identify opportunities for obtaining research grants and contribute to the preparation and development of new applications; For pending awards, develop and submit Just-In-Time information sponsored agencies; For existing awards, prepare and develop progress reports, competing renewals, revisions, contracts and grants close-out reports. Competently perform electronic research administration system functions currently in use by federal and private entities; Correspond with publishing companies to submit abstracts and manuscripts for publishing; Develop and maintain a system to track publications, records of submitted proposals, awards and deadlines related to grants and publications; Ensure research protocols remain current.
Manage departmental accounts, including state and sponsored program funds to include budget development and implementation, developing processes to track fiscal activity, monitor expenditures and ensure items are allocated in accordance with budget assignment and federal, state, university and sponsored program requirements. Responsible for budget amendments, modifications, restrictions on spending and/or re-allocation of funds as appropriate and management of CAP and other cost share accounts; Responsible for providing financial analysis to support existing and planned operations and preparing accurate and reliable reports to leadership.
Serve as a key member of the institute management team and perform general administrative functions necessary to assist in areas deemed priority within the goals and objectives of the Institute such as: manage personnel, develop policies and new work procedures as requested, disseminate information to faculty and staff and lead administrative support staff; Monitor compliance and audit activities and train staff on work processes and computer applications as requested.
As it relates to research and/or institute goals, plan and develop special projects and events to include, but not limited to hosting local, national and international meetings/symposia, securing funding through grants and/or donations to support projects or research collaborations.
Participate in meetings, training and other work environment, health and safety activities.
Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or related field with three years of experience in business, finance, accounting or other related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited college or university in a related field with experience in research and department administration; Experience with preparation and review of funding proposal; Experience with developing budgets, managing sponsored and state funds, managing human resources services; project planning and development and grant administration; Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and experience with electronic grant administration (grants.gov, PureEdge, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong accounting, management and organizational skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Salary Range: $56,600 - $72,200 annually
Pay Band: B11
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
