Position Description:

The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Louisville is dedicated to advancing the field through innovative education, impactful research, and strong industry collaboration. In line with these goals, we are looking to hire a dynamic and detail-oriented Research Scientist to join our research team. This role will focus on designing, executing, and managing data-driven research initiatives within the domain of Industrial Engineering. As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for developing research methodologies, conducting literature reviews, and working collaboratively with academic advisors and project teams to achieve impactful research outcomes. You will also lead and contribute to projects related to Digital Twins and Industry 5.0, incorporating smart technologies into our research endeavors. A key component of this role is conducting laboratory experiments, ensuring precise data collection, and performing in-depth statistical analysis to support research objectives. Further, you will mentor student researchers and actively explore opportunities to advance engineering education within the industrial engineering and engineering management domains.

This position also involves preparing technical reports and newsletters, designing dissemination strategies to engage the broader industrial engineering community. Additionally, you will be involved in organizing academic and community-oriented events to promote collaboration, inclusivity, and knowledge exchange. The ideal candidate for this role is energetic, adaptable, and capable of working independently and within a multidisciplinary team. The responsibilities of the Research Scientist may vary and evolve based on the research team’s ongoing needs, requiring a proactive and flexible approach. The position is for one year and can be renewed based on the performance.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in research design and methodology development. Familiarity with engineering management and engineering education concepts. Master’s degree in industrial engineering with relevant research experience. Proficiency in industrial engineering approaches such as statistical analysis, quality control, smart manufacturing, and project management.

Target Compensation Maximum:

$87,300.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$58,200.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
