Position Description:

The School of Medicine Student Admissions Specialist III (Medical Student Recruiter) is responsible for the recruitment of prospective medical school applicants who are likely to serve and meet the mission of the School of Medicine. This position will report to and work with the Manager, Student Recruitment to recruit a talented and diverse class of students who are academically prepared to successfully complete the curriculum including those who reflect the communities we serve, giving consideration to first generation college graduates, students from rural or underserved areas, and students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Particular consideration will also be given to recruitment of students who will likely practice as generalists, in underserved areas, and as physician scientists. This position will travel both within the Commonwealth of Kentucky and outside to develop relationships with pre-med advisors and attract a diverse applicant pool. This position will also assist with programming and application evaluation within the Admissions Office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Manager, Student Recruitment to plan annual recruitment strategy and materials.

  • Develop relationships with pre-med advisors across the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond.

  • Attend pre-health fairs, schedule in-person and virtual pre-med presentations at colleges/universities.

  • Produce reports on recruitment outcomes.

  • Conduct file reviews of incoming medical school applications.

  • Assist with Admissions Office programming; including but not limited to Pre-Orientation, prospective and admitted medical student tours and presentations, and high school tours and presentations.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education/Student Personnel, Communications, Psychology, or related field.

  • Preferred work experience in Student Services and/or Recruitment field. Experience within a university department or another student-centered industry may be considered.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact sensitively and effectively with students, parents, faculty and others who have diverse interests in the admissions process and its outcomes.

  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Target Compensation Maximum:

$68,900.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$45,900.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
