Job Purpose
The College of Medicine and the Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS) are seeking to hire highly motivated faculty at the rank of full Professor. The candidate should be specialized in the area of Oncology or Immuno-Oncology and have experience in Translational Cancer Research to lead a center of excellence for Cancer Research. The candidate should have administrative and teaching experience as well as excellent publication record in reputable journals. The candidate will coordinate the effort of several research groups for establishing joint-interdisciplinary projects towards achieving specifically set objectives pertaining to the cancer research center. The candidate will spend 50% of their time teaching and 50% research.
Main accountabilities & expectations
The candidate will lead an executive committee that includes the research groups/lines leaders/coordinators within the center.
The candidate will coordinate the effort of several research groups for establishing joint-interdisciplinary projects.
Work on achieving specifically set objectives pertaining to the cancer research center.
Acquire technologies to support efforts of center researchers related to cancer.
Promote the center vision and mission in the community and internationally.
Teach basics of medical oncology to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Establish national, regional, and international collaborations with cancer centers worldwide.
Attract community-based, national and international funding and support for the center.
Organize regular training activities.
Ensure training of junior faculty/postdocs and graduate students in areas related to theme of the center.
Required Skills
Extensive experience and outstanding achievements in cancer research.
Having wide network of collaborators at the national, regional, and international levels.
Evidence of leadership in interdisciplinary research is preferrable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable him/her to interact with staff and faculty at the college and the institute.
Applicant must be a Full Professor with Ph.D./MD from a highly recognized university, preferably a medical/clinical oncologist.
A strong track record of peer- reviewed publications and evidence of leadership in the field is required.
