What Your Job Will Be Like:

Advanced Nuclear Concepts is seeking an undergraduate student intern to join the Brayton Lab at Sandia National Laboratories for the Summer of 2025. The student will assist with thermodynamic modeling of closed Brayton cycles for various applications including space nuclear power, terrestrial microreactors, and thermal energy storage applications. There is also opportunity for hardware testing which would utilize Labview to measure performance of various Brayton cycle components including heat exchangers or turbomachinery.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Support Engineers and Technologists with research and development
• Work in a team environment to help project success
• Apply knowledge of engineering principals to problems
• Perform a mixture of analytical and experimental work
• Collect, process, and analyze experimental data
• Develop, improve, and maintain infrastructure

Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

• Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited undergraduate program
• Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
• Ability to secure and maintatin a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field
• Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to be meticulous, detail oriented
• Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, take initiative and work independently
• Demonstrated ability to have good interpersonal skills and communicate well
• Demonstrated ability to have good problem solving skills
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge and some experience with one or more programming languages (Python, Fortran, C/C++, etc.)
• Knowledge and some experience with software packages (EES, Solidworks, Labview, MATLAB)

Security Clearance:
