Job Function:

Provide academic support and monitoring of all, at-risk, student athletes. Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by date of employment.

Preferred Education:

Master’s degree.

Minimum Experience:

At least one year of experience in education or related area.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in peer tutoring or mentoring
  • Developmental education.
  • Experience with assessment of academic preparedness.
  • Experience working with at-risk students at a collegiate level, preferably in an intercollegiate athletics environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and facilitate training for graduate student staff regarding, motivation, how to identify strategies for different learning styles and instructional methods. Training and development (such as CRLA certification),
  • Develop and implement learning materials that will assist students of different learning styles and abilities.
  • Coordinate new and ongoing support of student athletes and serve as a referral agent to other University services, such as Upper Division Advising, Disability Services, the Learning Center, Career Center, and the Counseling Center.
  • Provide consistent and up-to-date communication to the Director of SASS and the student athlete’s academic coordinator regarding course progress, skill improvement and accommodation usage, if applicable.
  • Provide individual academic support plans to assist students in becoming independent learners.
  • Assist in the NCAA Continuing Eligibility Certification process.
  • Remain up to date and in strict adherence to all NCAA, MAC and BSU rules. Report any issue or concern to the Director of SASS and/or the Athletics’ Compliance Office. Maintain integrity on all fronts. Attend NCAA Regional Rules every other year, annual BSU Athletic Compliance Training and any other pertinent institutional training.
  • Participate in supervising and managing after-hours study table, Sunday through Thursday (times vary).
  • Assist monitoring of the academic progress of student athletes according to NCAA, MAC and BSU guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
