Job Description:
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking a qualified Academic Advisor II to provide professional academic advising services. In this role, you will work closely with students to support their academic journey, offering guidance on course selections, degree planning, and graduation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide personalized advising to students regarding degree planning, academic support services, and graduation requirements.
Assist students with course selections and meeting academic milestones, including degree certification and auditing.
Refer students to relevant resources, such as academic success programs, financial aid, or counseling services.
Interpret and communicate academic policies and procedures to support student success.
Participate in departmental activities such as orientations and recruitment events, presenting information to prospective students and their families.
Advise learning communities and student organizations to enhance the student experience.
Teach orientation courses to help students transition smoothly into university life.
May serve as a lead advisor or supervise students.

• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
