College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
As the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) Savannah campus at Georgia Southern University chief financial and administrative officer, this position is responsible for all administrative and business functions of the Savannah Campus and serves as the Campus Dean's advisor on all matters related to the management and oversight of financial and administrative affairs. As a member of the Savannah campus Senior Leadership Team, this position also works with the Campus Dean and Associate Deans to provide strategic and operational direction in support of the Savannah campus mission and goals.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Finance: This position manages the entire financial operations for the Savannah Campus and is charged with maximizing the resources available to the Savannah Campus through sound financial management practices. This includes developing strategies to maximize revenues, minimize administrative costs, and capture university resources where appropriate. To do so the incumbent is expected to be proficient in the various financial systems (ex: PeopleSoft Financials). This position has financial responsibility for the Savannah Campus undergraduate medical education (UME) program.
Specific duties include:
- Work closely with the Campus Dean and budget/finance officers at both AU and Georgia Southern to prepare annual and long-range budget plans for the Savannah Campus.
- Develop and implement annual budgets and internal budgetary allocations for the Savannah Campus.
- Approve all expenditures/transactions and monthly reconciliation for all Savannah campus accounts.
- Oversee external funding grants, agency accounts, and endowed accounts.
- Analyze and evaluate financial implications for new programs and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to student organization leaders.
- Provide advice and counsel to Senior Leadership Team, faculty, and staff.
Human Resources: This position will create a healthy work environment by managing the Savannah campus human resource functions and personnel matters, including recruitment, payroll, performance management, and annual salary administration for Savannah Campus.
Specific duties include:
- Facilitate recruiting and hiring of faculty and staff and provide oversight in defining positions and preparing job descriptions. Oversee the process to post, advertise, interview and hire for faculty and staff positions.
- Work with academic units to process academic appointment paperwork.
- Manage processes to ensure faculty capture activities in the Professional Activity Capture Tool (PACT)
- Provide oversight to the preparation of offer letters and any necessary relocation paperwork.
- Ensure the Savannah Campus compliance with AU's flex work policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for faculty and staff to resolve employee relations problems.
- Coordinate and/or conduct annual performance evaluations and ensure equitable salary administration.
- Serve as Time & Absence Approver in OneUSG Connect for all employees.
- Facilitate regular Savannah campus-wide staff meetings to increase communication flow and address issues pertaining to staff members.
Facilities: This position is responsible for all Savannah campus facilities, classrooms, and equipment.
- This includes setup, maintenance, security, access and communications (voice & data), space planning, and construction projects.
- This position also oversees facilities improvements and coordinates major physical plant projects and day-to-day issues with the university's Facilities Management Division.
- Maintain a Critical Event Preparedness and Response (CEPAR) plan and work with the key stake holders to ensure the plans evolve as needed and all faculty and staff are aware of their roles.
Administration: This position manages general administrative and strategic duties to include:
- Work with Campus Dean to establish and implement the Savannah campus's strategy and direction.
- Oversee and administer any financial or operational special projects, e.g. forecasting space needs, expanding of student class size. This includes developing budgets related to those projects, working with design firms and construction managers, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Advise the Campus Dean (individually and as part of the Dean's Senior Leadership Team), faculty, and other administrators on a wide range of policy and procedural matters.
- Serve as compliance officer for the Savannah Campus.
- Facilitate interface between the Savannah Campus business and HR functions.
- Serve on various AU university-wide committees.
- Maintain rich and consistent documentation to be respond to all University and legislative data and context requests.
Operations Management: This position is responsible for all Savannah Campus operational functions which includes but is not limited to:
- Creating clear and open communication through collaboration AU, MCG and GS central departments.
- Plays key role in departmental leadership through interactions with faculty and staff regarding unit financials, policy, procedures, and philosophy. Exercises sound judgment, strong decision- making skills and initiative in the planning, implementation and monitoring of strategic plans in collaboration with partner units.
- Provides management expertise and creates an infrastructure to support Savannah campus.
- Ensures the Savannah Campus complies with LCME requirements. Coordinates with MCG educational leaders to ensure student experience is positive and is comparable across campuses.
- Training and supervisor of staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
Masters degree from an accredited college or university

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Master's in Business Administration from an accredited college or university. 5-7 years of experience in financial and administrative management positions with increasing responsibilities. Preference given to individuals who have experience in higher education. Supervisory experience desired.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: 18
Salary: Minimum $125,900.00/Annually - $160,500.00/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
