University Medical Billing (UMB) is a fully remote department that is viewed as the premier billing office for the University of Utah School of Medicine, serving over 1,800 providers and 30 different specialties across Utah and surrounding states. We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join our BIA and IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing duties across multiple areas of information technology, such as computer hardware, server software, networking, telecommunications, computer support, database analysis, data security, and other areas of the overall IT platform/infrastructure. While UMB is primarily a remote department this role will require some in-office work. UMB’s office is located in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and the adherence to departmental policies, including UMB’s Telecommuting Agreement which requires a distraction-free and HIPAA compliant workplace, cameras on for all virtual calls/meetings, and the ability to work during office hours or assigned shift (M-F, approximately 8am to 5pm Mountain Time) regardless of what time zone you live in. Additionally, new hires are required to provide their own monitors (two) and reliable internet service.

Compensation & Benefits
The starting salary for this position is $50,000 – $56,000/yr., depending on experience. Members of UMB are eligible for a bonus based on department performance. Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Hardware Deployment in Office – 40%
Use the imaging server to deploy images to computers and perform basic updates and repairs.
Be the primary point of contact for assistance in the office
Performa all office-related tasks such as receiving deliveries, packaging contents, and sending items to salvage.
Incident Requests – 30%
Respond to and assign IT assistance requests via the ServiceNow system, ensuring timely resolution.
Serve as a point of contact for routine IT issues and escalate more complex problems as necessary.
Serve as point of contact for SharePoint access and site assistance
Asset Management & Documentation – 20%
Conduct basic audits and evaluations of systems for efficiency and support the diagnosis of hardware and software issues.
Help create and maintain information logs and documentation on system usage and resources.
Update the asset management systems and perform routine audits.
Serve as backup for Access Auditor position as needed
Testing & Research – 10%
Participate in researching new software/hardware for departmental use and assist in testing.
Support the planning and execution of IT product deployment and integration tasks.
Complete all other duties as assigned; meet performance standards and key performance expectations of position
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalency or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within areas of specialty.
Preferences
An especially qualified candidate will also possess the following:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 1 year of applicable experience.
Certifications, such as A+, Network+, etc. preferred.
Working knowledge of PowerShell.
Working knowledge of web-based Microsoft applications, including SharePoint.
Minimum 1 year experience with core information systems and server management preferred.
Experience working effectively in a remote environment.
