Job Summary
The Office of Information Technology at Auburn University is seeking applicants for the role of Application Systems Analyst within our Data Warehouse team. This position involves collaborating with various departments and integrating multiple applications with the university’s mobile platform. As a technical lead and business expert, you will assist clients in identifying needs, defining system scope, and setting objectives. You will also monitor, define, create, and modify procedures to address highly complex or unprecedented challenges, considering resource capacity, operating time, and desired outcomes. Responsibilities include program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

This position is located in Auburn, Alabama and working onsite is a requirement of the job. After completion of probationary period, may work up to 2 days hybrid remote with supervisor’s approval.

Essential Functions
Reviews, modifies, and writes complex program code and comprehensive application systems for the implementation of business requirements. Provides technical oversight and coordination for coding in accordance with best practices for associated programming languages, applications, and/or systems.
Provides technical oversight for the application of and compliance with technical standards such as code reviews, unit testing, and security reviews.
Prepares and reviews detailed specifications from which programs will be written in order to ensure compliance with business and technical requirements.
Implements the program design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and/or support of application software.
Coordinates and participates in the evaluation of software products and programming languages. Makes recommendations based on the evaluation of software products and programming languages for their applicability to the system or project.
Conducts quality assurance reviews to ensure that programs, applications, and systems meet business and technical requirements. Provides work guidance to other staff members.
May perform other related duties as assigned by the IT Manager.

The Applications Systems Analyst position is posted at two levels:

Associate Application Systems Analyst
High school diploma + 9 years of experience
Associate’s degree + 5 years of experience
Bachelor’s degree + 1 years of experience

Application Systems Analyst
High school diploma + 11 years of experience
Associate’s degree + 7 years of experience
Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of experience

Relevant IT experience to include systems analysis/programming in a business or university setting.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of advanced trouble shooting, intermediate client relations skills, persuasive communication, formulating and contributing ideas, and quality assurance methodologies.
Advanced understanding of the business environment of a large university system, including an in-depth understanding of the University systems, its policies, and its operating procedures.
Current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems.
Must possess project management skills and the ability to work within a matrixed environment if necessary.
Ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related field, experience working with functional business units, extensive experience with data visualization, and a deep understanding of data governance.
Experience with any of the following: Snowflake or similar data warehouse solutions, GitHub or other code repository, SQL, Python JSON, cloud infrastructures, ETL tools, API connectivity and development, Azure, Logic Apps, Swagger, DataFactory, or Salesforce.
