Job Description

Summary

The lab is seeking a talented individual to work with our team on a project assess to the genomic and metabolomic changes due to rare metabolic and neurodevelopmental disease gene variation. Technician has excellent computer, written and oral communication skills and have knowledge of metabolic and genomic data and statistical methodologies. The technician will be responsible for but not limited to the literature research, document experimental results, deliver lab meeting presentations, and assist with manuscript and grant preparation under the direction of the supervisor. The technician must be proactive and take initiative in all work related tasks. It is critical that the candidate possesses a team-centered and goal-oriented mindset and foster a team work environment.

Job Duties

  • Prepares solutions and reagents for project execution.
  • Works on projects that require work with mice andcell culture studies.
  • Summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Document results.
  • Keeps an organized research notebook and confirm results.
  • Works in lab meetings and presents data acquired from experimental results and to describe theproject work.
  • Utilizes database management skills and effective communication to identify and recruit qualified research study subjects thatincludes informed consent process.
  • Organizes the collection and documentation of human subject data.
  • Coordinates and documents biological sample collection and processing from study participants and providers, as needed.
  • Learns cell culture techniques,basic mouse husbandry and phenotyping of mice.
  • Learns new and state-of-the-art techniques as required for completion of the project anddata analysis and data visualization.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has knowledge of software programs that includes Microsoft Suite, GraphPad Prism, Endnote, R and other programs.
  • Has molecular biology knowledge in DNA and RNA manipulations such as purification and quantification, PCR, qPCR and restriction enzyme digestion.
