Position Description
The Seidman Lab at Harvard Medical School is seeking a motivated and skilled Research Assistant II to join our dynamic research team. Our lab focuses on the evaluation of normal and diseased heart tissue in both human and mouse models. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cardiovascular research under the guidance of the lab director and in collaboration with other lab members.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Bulk RNA Sequencing: Execute protocols for RNA extraction, library preparation, and sequencing of heart tissue samples.
Miseq Evaluation of DNA Fragments: Conduct Miseq sequencing to analyze DNA fragments from heart tissue, ensuring high-quality data generation and analysis.
Utilize Merscope Technology: Employ Merscope for spatially resolved transcriptomics to study gene expression patterns in heart tissue.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: Collaborate with team members to analyze sequencing data, interpret results, and contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts.
Laboratory Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment, ordering of supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Collaborative Research: Work closely with the lab director and other researchers to design and implement experiments, troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize protocols.
 
Basic Qualifications
  • College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology.
  • One to two years related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).
Additional Information
This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.
