Job Summary
The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Business Analyst at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) plays a pivotal role in aligning business needs with technology solutions. Develop action plans, solve problems, and elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements across multiple units. Effective communication of these requirements is crucial. They understand and improve business processes, test, and implement changes within SLCC’s HRIS system, and ensure ERP systems meet organizational goals. Responsibilities include gathering requirements, defining project scope, conducting gap analysis, testing processes, and providing end-user support. The Analyst acts as a liaison between business and IT, requiring strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with deep ERP expertise.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Projects:
Develop, lead, maintain, revise, document, and administer HRIS projects from simple to complex by the HR department.
Serve as project lead with other HRIS and IT staff to review enhancements or refine existing processes.
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with project managers, IT programmer analysts, and business leaders.
Act as a major contributor in system integration, upgrades of 3rd party software, and internally developed applications.
Document business processes for current and proposed HRIS projects.
Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot technical issues and implement system enhancements or fixes.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for ERP implementations or enhancements.

Testing:
Develop and execute testing plans for ERP product maintenance and new system development. Conduct testing and troubleshooting within projects and suggest processes to improve efficiency. Participate in functional testing.
Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure ERP solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.

Analysis:
Conduct analysis of existing business processes for improvement.
Perform gap analysis to identify discrepancies between business requirements and ERP system capabilities.
Develop and maintain documentation such as functional specifications, process flows, and training materials.

Data:
Partner with the HR, Payroll, and IT teams to provide and maintain security and data integrity for the HRIS system(s).
Act as a data custodian by writing and maintaining data definitions, ensuring data quality and consistency, and communicating changed business requirements and concerns or issues with the data.
Audit existing SLCC processes to ensure accuracy of data.

Reporting:
Extract, interpret, and report data from the ERP system to demonstrate business value and to assist in solutions and troubleshooting.
Develop new reports from HRIS and manipulate existing report variables in order to generate ad-hoc reports as required for internal and external customers.
Act as a resource for report development expertise.
Responsible for data integrity and quality assurance of all data and reporting of discrepancies.

Maintain Human Resources department website and ensure accuracy of information.
Participate with the internal Banner Core committee.
Provide end-user training and support on new processes and functionality for successful adoption of ERP systems.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in ERP systems and business process management.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in HRIS, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
Two (2) to five (5) years of paid full-time direct ERP work experience, Business Requirement Document, Database, and transaction.

Two (2) years of education may be traded for one (1) year of experience.
Two (2) years of experience may be traded for one (1) year of education.
For example: Associate’s degree + six (6) years full time work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Banner, Cognos or other ERP systems.
Knowledge of database relationships and SQL.
Project management experience.
Programming experience.
Understanding and/or experience working in Higher Education and Human Resources.
Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
Understanding of ERP principles and best practices.
Familiarity with business processes and their impact on data quality across departments.
Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
Understanding of data analysis and reporting techniques, including query skills.
General Human Resources and higher education regulations as it pertains to SLCC.

Experience:
Previous experience as a Business Analyst, preferably with specific experience in ERP implementations or support.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems relevant to the organization’s industry, including Banner, SAP, ADP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or Workday, in both “on-premise” and/or “cloud” environments.
Proven track record of successfully delivering ERP projects on time and within budget, demonstrating project management skills.
Experience in data analysis, reporting, and presenting findings to stakeholders using report writing software such as Cognos or comparable tools.
