Saint Mary's College seeks to hire a per-course adjunct faculty member to teach Theology and Religious Studies, Revelation and Christology, in the traditional undergraduate program in Fall of 2024.

This course will be taught on the Moraga campus, in person, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20 - 4:35PM during the 2024 Fall term.
This course introduces students to the historical development of Christian faith in Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ and contemporary reflections on that faith. The course features an examination of the figure of Jesus and the movement that formed around him before and after Easter. Students will examine the historical Jesus and views of him in the New Testament and then study the emergence of Christian creeds and doctrines about Jesus Christ both with reference to his “person,” that is his theandric identity, and his “work,” particularly with reference to salvation. This course will also consider the Christocentric nature of Vatican II's anthropology featured in its proclamation that it is only in the mystery of the Word made flesh that the mystery of humanity truly becomes clear, and that Christ fully reveals humanity to itself and brings to light its high calling. Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess an earned doctorate in Theology with a concentration in systematic theology. Those who have reached the ABD stage in their active progress toward such a doctoral degree (i.e., completion of all qualifying and competency examinations) will also be considered. Deep familiarity with the Catholic use of scriptures and theological exegesis is prized. Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of teaching effectiveness in classes for undergraduates. Preference will also be given to those with evidence of successful collaborative teaching and those who have previously taught TRS 097, 122, or 281.

Candidates must reside in California.

The salary range for this position is $7,447 -$10,008 dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
