Primary Purpose of Position
The ERP Database Administrator (DBA) is a mid-level technical position that provides database and application administration for the Banner enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and additional applications, and supports the Banner Student, Financial Aid, Finance, and Human Resources modules.

The DBA provides support for ERP operations, the installation, configuration, and upgrade of Banner modules, database software, and other applications. This position supports tuning of the Banner database to ensure it operates efficiently. The DBA works with and coordinates activities with ERP analysts, system administrators, functional office staff, service providers, and others to plan installation, upgrades, or assess performance or cybersecurity issues.

The DBA reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications, works under the direction of senior technical staff, and is a mid-level technical member of the department. This position works across functional and technical offices to ensure that Banner and related applications function at a high level of effectiveness.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Information Technology Services (ITS) strengthens and supports the university’s mission of teaching, research, and scholarly application of knowledge by providing the information technology infrastructure, software, hardware, and support to achieve the university’s strategic goals.

ITS is comprised of nine departments which work with the university community to provide the information technology support and services required to realize operational excellence, integrate advanced technology, and create efficient and effective technology solutions.
Minimum Requirements
A master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field with one year of progressive related experience, or a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field with two years of progressive related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience.
Technical troubleshooting knowledge and proficiency in Banner and Oracle databases.
Expertise in Oracle SQL with the ability to tune database operations, configurations, and advanced queries.
Practical experience in data exchange and transformation.
Practical understanding of the software development lifecycle including technical design, unit testing to user testing, to production migration.
Familiarity with change control procedures and compliance, and ensuring software stability and data integrity.
Proficiency in training and mentoring other technical staff to enhance their skills and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Effective communication skills, including the ability to provide instructions and training through explanations and demonstrations suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong customer service skills, driven by a genuine desire to assist others.
Proactive and optimistic mindset coupled with a diligent and responsible work ethic.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Knowledge of higher education administrative processes.
Experience in managing projects from inception to completion, including developing project plans, coordinating timelines, and ensuring that projects meet objectives and timelines.
Required License or Certification
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. Hybrid (Employees are working part-time in the office to perform job tasks that require on-campus engagement, and the remaining time at home)
