Department Summary

University Centers and Events (UCE) encompasses the University Union, Gateway Center and Coliseum. University Centers and Events (UCE), provides quality programs, services, and facilities that enhance the educational experience and create a community for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. We assist students to become good citizens of a global community, prepared to function in a diverse world.

Position Overview

Position is responsible for managing the Union information desk. The information desk provides customer service and information for the campus and serves as the hub for campus lost and found. Position is responsible for management of student staff, customer service initiatives, operations management, and emergency operations coordination. Position manages small budget and will conduct assessment measures for program effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and two years' of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
* Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
* Experience in networking across departments and programs.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
* Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience with emergency operations preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certifications



Job Duties:

Oversees information desk operations and implements strategies for continuous improvement.
Creates and implements customer service initiatives and trains staff to provide highest level of customer service to guests.
Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates 10+ student customer service specialists.
Oversees the Lost and Found program, which includes software implementation and upkeep of policies, procedures, and inventory to ensure continual improvement.
Coordinates monthly with other lost and found sites on campus to bring items to the union. Implements monthly reset of lost and found items.
Implements auction for lost and found items semesterly.
Conducts assessment measures to ensure program effectiveness, including reporting.
Manages budget for information center.
Implements emergency operations coordination and ensures effective communication with other internal and external entities accordingly.
Coordinates with Evening Operations Supervisor to ensure effectiveness of evening operations for information desk.

Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm
