Job Summary:
The University of Wisconsin (UW) System is transforming the administrative infrastructure within the University system. The overall transformation is a people, process, policy, and technology initiative which will include business process standardization, optimization, and redesign in the areas of finance, human resources, and research administration, and will include implementation of Workday to support the changes. The overall objective of the Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) is to right-size the administrative complexity to advance the missions of education, research, and outreach.

Under guidance from the Security Design Lead, the IT Security Consultant contributes to the creation of deliverables of the highest quality and presents leading practice solutions for the University of Wisconsin System. The IT Security Consultant will support the risk management objectives of ATP, document processes and requirements, coordinate, plan and execute testing efforts, and use a variety of project management tools to track and report status and progress. The successful candidate is an excellent communicator, critical thinker, motivated with a positive attitude, and able to independently work on and balance priorities for multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment.

This person will:
- Collaborate and coordinate with other UW - Madison and UW - System security efforts
- Exercise leadership regarding creation, implementation, and enforcement of information technology security standards
- Identify ways to improve security and limit exposure.
- Consult with stakeholders throughout the institution in support of addressing priorities and solves complex problems while ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
- Analyze potential data threats and separation of duties risks.

Responsibilities:
Assists with designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, or a subset of these responsibilities, to support the business operations of the institution.
5% Troubleshoots hardware, software, and system problems that involve ERP modules
5% Coordinates system-wide updates and installs upgrades and patches for ERP systems
10% Recommends ERP system enhancements or changes that may involve custom design, optional, and third party products
65% Creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts to maintain ERP systems security through user profile management
15% Participates in the design, development, and implementation of test and production objects. Defines user requirements and performs configuration, change management, and testing activities

3. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
4. Strong communication skills -- both written and oral -- including the ability to communicate sensitive information effectively
5. Experience interpreting and applying Information Security Standards such as NIST, ISO, etc
6. Experience with designing and configuring security for large complex applications

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working with an ERP system Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and/or Research Administration
2. ERP implementation experience
3. Experience working with a Workday / cloud ERP implementation
4. Information Security experience
5. Experience working in a higher education setting
6. Knowledge of the UW System and UW-Madison business support environment
