Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree in a related field and 5 years of collegiate coaching experience with a rowing program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by University of Louisville.

Position Description:

The Associate Head Coach is critically involved in all aspects of the program, is given specific autonomy, and shares responsibilities with the Head Coach in key areas of the program such as recruiting, coaching technique/strategies, budget management, practice planning, fundraising, promoting an atmosphere of compliance within the program, and other administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach. This position reports directly to the Head Rowing Coach.

This position requires the ability and willingness to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coach; develop skills of student-athletes; plan, prepare, and conduct individual and team practice sessions to train and prepare for competition and instruct student-athletes in techniques of the sport.

  • Assist Head Coach with game/event responsibilities including scheduling and management of travel budget and staff assignments.

  • Assist Head Coach in overall budget management of the program.

  • Additional duties may include:

    • Assist in developing and executing recruiting strategy for program.

    • Ensuring academic metrics (e.g., APR, GSR) are met.

    • Developing time management plan for program and tracking accordingly.

    • Assist in managing scholarship allocation and roster management.

    • Manage the adjustments and maintenance of the rowing facility and equipment.

  • When applicable, attend Head Coach meetings; participate in and represent the program during ACC conference calls and meetings.

  • Promote an atmosphere of compliance within the program through strict adherence to NCAA, ACC and university rules and regulations through monitoring of program activities, active involvement and commitment to continuous rules education, timely submission of compliance-related documents, and immediate reporting of any knowledge of potential rules violation involving self or others.

  • Assist in development and management of Rowing Alumni and Booster Club

  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • NCAA Division I Rowing coaching experience

  • Strong understanding of athlete conditioning and maintenance

  • Experience with rowing specific data collection modalities.

  • Working knowledge of recruiting and video software

  • Experience with program management (e.g., scholarships and financial aid; budgeting; playing season coordination, etc.)
