Position Description:

The Department of History invites applications for an instructor to teach topics on or related to Military History at the 300 level to complement the existing 300-level American Military History survey. Candidates should propose relevant course(s) they are willing and qualified to teach. Potential specialized topics may be, but are not limited to, classes centered on a singular conflict (Civil War, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, etc), Modern war and society, The military as a peacekeeping force, Studies in military leadership, War from antiquity to 1700. All positions are for one semester in the first instance, starting in Spring 2025 as departmental needs require, with the possibility of renewal as departmental needs require. Preference is given to those holding an M.A. at the time of appointment and to those with experience teaching the course.


Instructors are expected to utilize Blackboard to submit course syllabus, order textbooks or other reading materials, provide developmentally meaningful feedback, present engaging learning experiences, respond to students in a timely manner, communicate regularly with the designated academic program director, submit final grades within university deadlines, and comply with other requests as a part-time lecturer, such as completing an attestation disclosure form, along with completing annual evaluations.
