The Communication Department seeks to hire a per-course faculty member to teach MP 250, Multimedia Writing, in the Fall of 2024.

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9:10-10:05am

This course will be taught in person, on campus.

Course Description: Multimedia Writing is a skills-based class meant to introduce students to the craft of writing across a multitude of electronic mediums. By exploring how the delivery format of writing fundamentally affects the text's voice and meaning, students learn to craft - and revise - prose to fit a diversity of mediated environments. Writing exercises and assignments include website prose and blogs, writing and editing voiceover, creating podcasts and video scripts, and developing interactive narratives for games and videos. Students also engage meaningfully with the ethical considerations of drawing upon AI-based writing programs in one's work.


Qualifications:
Requirements: Terminal degree in Writing or Digital Media; experience teaching multiple modes of professional and creative writing at the college level.

Candidates must reside in California.

Salary: $7,447-$10,308 dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
