Overview

Saint Mary's College seeks to hire a per-course adjunct faculty member to teach KINES 460L: Exercise Physiology Lab(s) in Fall 2024. 2 workload units per section.

Section 1: Tuesdays, 3:20-6:20pm

Section 2: Wednesday, 1:20-4:20pm

Section 3: Thursday, 3:20-6:20pm

KINES 460 Exercise Physiology and its accompanying lab KINES 460L is a study of physiological parameters and mechanisms that determine the adaptations of the physiological systems of humans in response to exercise (e.g., exercise metabolism, work and fatigue; development of strength and flexibility; cardiorespiratory effects of exercise and training; sport activity in extreme environmental conditions such as-high altitudes, heat, and cold; measurement of factors determining fitness). The lab course utilizes measurement equipment including but not limited to treadmill and cycle ergometers, metabolic indirect calorimetry, heart rate and blood pressure devices, hydrostatic densitometry, skinfold calipers, and portable blood glucose and lactate monitors.



Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field and have a recent publication record in the field, or a Master’s degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field and have at least five years of current, relevant professional experience. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the graduate level as evidenced by recent course evaluations is strongly preferred. Candidates should be comfortable supporting and working in a multicultural environment.

Candidates must reside in California.

Salary: $4,965-$6,872 per section, dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
