Description
The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMSc). The position includes full benefits, with academic rank commensurate with the candidate's training and experience. The anticipated FTE distribution is 80% academic and 20% research and/or service.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of basic scientists, physicians, and staff dedicated to excellence in medical education, scholarly activity, and community service. The faculty member will work across multiple divisions within the Department of Biomedical Sciences and contribute their academic, curricular, service, and/or research expertise to support the department, college, and university missions.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate small groups, provide teaching and perform student assessments in the Osteopathic Clinical Skills course and other areas as assigned; provide teaching for students at UNE's OPTI and core rotation sites as needed; provide teaching and service at CME programs as assigned.
• To participate directly in the instruction of osteopathic medical students and graduate students within the college through lecture, small group experiences, laboratory and other settings.
• To help in planning and implementation of the curriculum and the college's vision, mission, and strategic plan.
• To participate in teaching students of other colleges and learners in other programs as assigned.
• To help with the development of the educational programs of the department and give curricular input to the courses in such a way as to maintain academic standards and quality within the educational programs.
• To participate in and seek to expand the education offerings of the department to COM, the UNE colleges, and the community in professional and public forums for students, practitioners, and lay persons.
• To pursue inter-departmental and inter-college cooperation in educational and research programs.
• To help maintain communication between the department, the administration, and other departments within the college, and other colleges within the university.
• To participate and serve on committees within the college and the university.
• To participate in community relations efforts to extend and enhance the visibility and reputation of the Department, the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the University of New England.
• To comply with UNE and professional standards and regulations including but not limited to HIPPAA, OSHA, and safety training.
• To perform related duties as assigned as necessary.

Encouraged but not required:

• To participate in quality educational/academic, clinical, or scientific projects; to help seek external funding for individual research and scholarly needs; to maintain a record of written presentations, publications, and other scholarly activity in recognized scientific journals and books.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in anatomy
• Experience teaching human gross anatomy
• Preferred 3 years or equivalent of faculty experience in a college of medicine
• Curricular and teaching experience, in formal and informal teaching, and learner supervision and evaluation
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Examples of accomplishments, skills, and publications
