Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Chief of Staff (CoS) serves as senior advisor and principal representative of the President of Weber State University, acting under the President's direction to advance institutional priorities across the University. This high-impact role functions as an executive partner, helping translate the President's vision effectively across all divisions of the institution. The Chief of Staff navigates relationships and logistical details across the University—aligning the work of the Vice Presidents, the Cabinet, and the President's Council to ensure that institutional momentum is maintained and that the University's Strategic Plan is executed with precision. The CoS extends the President's capacity to lead at a high level by managing the complex internal operations and external landscapes and stakeholders that define modern higher education leadership.

Working in tandem with the Executive Assistant, the Chief of Staff focuses on the broader purpose and strategy of the President's engagements. This includes directing executive communications to ensure a consistent presidential voice, conducting high-level research to produce strategic briefings, and overseeing the progress of institutional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The CoS resolves operational and interpersonal issues before they require the President's direct intervention and, as a trusted representative of the President's Office, builds collaborative relationships with Faculty Senate, student leadership, and external stakeholders on the President's behalf.

Required Qualifications:

Required:

- Master's degree in Higher Education Leadership, Public Administration, Business, or a related field
- 5 years of progressive leadership or strategic initiatives experience in a complex organizational setting



Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred:

- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a relevant field
- Demonstrated experience translating a strategic vision into actionable plans with measurable KPIs
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Experience facilitating a significant strategic shift, accreditation cycle, or leadership transition at a higher education institution
