Augusta University Career Services provides comprehensive and personalized career guidance for students through: career and major exploration, job search preparation, employment support (part and full-time, internships, and more), and professional development programming (workshops, career fairs, networking and more). By aligning career preparation with academic planning, we empower students with strategies for long-term career success.

Job Summary

 

Provide career/professional development guidance and support to students and recent graduates including undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. Partner with employers, faculty and campus services in facilitating career development programs and initiatives that support AU students.

Responsibilities

 

The duties include, but are not limited to:

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Advises students and recent graduates individually and in groups regarding career and personal development to support a positive transition from college to post-graduate career plans.
  • Identify and address student development issues, including motivation, career indecision, self-efficacy, and decision-making.
  • Educate students and other constituents about available tools, resources, and services for career planning and goal attainment.
  • Generate marketing materials to promote Career Services programs and resources to students and designated academic areas.
  • Assist other departments with special programs focused on student retention, career planning awareness, resources, and Career Services offerings. 

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & EXECUTION

  • Collaborate with academic programs, student support areas, and faculty to align and customize career development resources for students.
  • Identify competencies and development areas related to students' education and career goals.
  • Develop services, programs, workshops, and events tailored to students' professional development and career preparation needs.
  • Manage and assist with career development programs, including career exploration programs, job fairs, etiquette dinners, and graduate school planning.
  • Serve as lead manager for at least one department-wide program annually.
  • Research, plan, develop, and implement innovative programming and resources as market trends and student needs change.
  • Coordinate college-specific outreach, seminars, workshops, and programs based on student needs and faculty requests.
  • Work with and advise faculty and college administrators on ways to improve experiential learning and career development opportunities. 

EMPLOYER DEVELOPMENT & RELATIONS

  • Build partnerships between the university and external organizations, including businesses, public-sector organizations, and nonprofit entities.
  • Expand and maintain employer relationships through outreach, site visits, email/mail campaigns, marketing, and partnerships with academic programs.
  • Work closely with employers regarding hiring needs for designated majors.
  • Facilitate job postings, résumé referrals, employer follow-up, and marketing.
  • Facilitate on-campus recruitment initiatives, including scheduling, marketing, and event-day coordination.
  • Monitor and document successful employment outcomes for students and graduates.
  • Represent Career Services at corporate and campus functions throughout the community, state, and region. 

REPORTING, DOCUMENTATION & TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT

  • Document student appointment notes and follow-up efforts, including email, phone, and drop-in interactions.
  • Generate and calculate monthly Career Services reports covering student appointments, services, on-campus recruitment, programming initiatives, and other designated areas.
  • Maintain expertise in career exploration and job-search technology and resources.
  • Maintain databases and student files for monthly, semester, and annual reporting.
  • Monitor the Career Services employment system for new-user updates and résumé accuracy.
  • Review newly posted jobs for employer follow-up.
  • Pull reports as needed for benchmarking and assist managers with system-related projects.
  • Utilize Banner, PeopleSoft, Institutional Research reports, and other campus information resources to generate data for verification and reporting.

 

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

  • Perform all other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

 

Master's degree from an Accredited College or University, in Counseling/Higher Education Administration/Human Resources or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Master's degree from an accredited college or university with experience in Career Services and the academic areas the position directly supports. 

 

Preferred work experience in higher education, counseling, or an employment services area. 

 

Career Services experience is desired. Technology experience with web-based career software and database/spreadsheet experience is helpful.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

 

Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B8

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
