Summary

The Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program is a 5-year, full-time academic program that is designed to meet APA standards of accreditation for doctoral programs in health service psychology and requirements for Licensed Psychologists in the State of Texas. Training consists of a graded sequence of didactic and experiential learning activities designed to enhance students' competencies in research, ethical and legal standards, individual and cultural diversity. professional attitudes and values, communication and interpersonal skills, assessment, intervention, supervision, consultation, and inter-professional skills. This is a part-time position, 16hours/week.
Three educational objectives for Internship:
1. Develop graduate-level competencies in research by independently contributing to the design, implementation, and management of clinical psychology research studies, including participant recruitment, data collection, protocol adherence, and regulatory compliance.
2. Strengthen quantitative and scientific communication skills by conducting statistical analyses, interpreting research findings, and/or disseminating results through conference presentations or collaborative scholarly writing.
3. Enhance professional and collaborative research practice by working effectively within multidisciplinary research teams, applying ethical principles in human subject’s research, and demonstrating increasing independence in project coordination, problem-solving, and delegation/supervision of tasks performed by other staff.

Job Duties

  • Assists with study design and protocol development, recruit, screen, and consent research participants as appropriate.
  • Conducts clinical interviews/assessment or chart abstraction as appropriate.
  • Manages research databases and ensures data integration.
  • Participates in regular meetings with the supervising investigator(s) and other project staff.
  • Maintains regulatory documentation.
  • Assists with literature reviews and creation of scholarly products.
  • Seeks incorporate supervisory feedback to improve research performance and professional development.
  • Applies ethical principles in all research activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a clinical psychology doctoral program.
  • Experiences in clinical research will complement pre-clinical didactic training during the first year of study by providing interns with the opportunity to learn and contribute to the creation of psychological knowledge through study design, study execution, and/or data analysis.
  • The intern is expected to quickly assume project roles of increasing complexity and independence, commensurate with the intern's level of education and experience.
