Job Description
Description of Job Duty:
Assist students and faculty with their requests and needs - Students: schedules, permits, courses, etc. Faculty: classrooms, computers, assist with classes when they are out, etc. Manage the office to insure that it runs smoothly, efficiently and productively for faculty, staff, students and student workers, as well as performing general secretarial duties and monitor the ordering of office supplies and equipment. Assist departmental chair in all areas of their job including meeting deadlines and advising them of operational and budgetary matters. Create and maintain course schedule and room assignments. Maintain all required paperwork related to personnel and hiring and maintaining required documents for SACS reviews. Assist search committee chairperson in placing job ads, coordinate interviewee's travel, lodging, meals, presentations and meetings.

Essential Functions:
Serve as a multi-purpose office manager with responsibilities that include: administering payroll; maintaining office efficiency; participating in creative problem-solving and decision-making processes, independently from and in the process of advising the Chair on decisions involved in running the department. Managing the departmental office to insure that it runs smoothly, efficiently and productively while maintaining high morale of faculty, staff, students and student workers. Assisting department Chair in all aspects of the job, including meeting deadlines. Advising department Chair of operational and budgetary matters. Creating and maintaining course schedules and classroom assignments. Collecting and maintaining all required paperwork relating to personnel and hiring. Collecting and maintaining all materials required for SACS reviews. Supervising the maintenance of department classrooms and office space. Assisting search committee chairperson with job advertising. Arranging for candidates; travel, lodging, food, presentations and meetings. Advising department chair of major equipment purchases needed.

Work Hours:
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
