Job Description

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus. (OUHC) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position for a PhD research faculty member. This is an initial research faculty hire for the department, established as part of OUHC's Project 200 research growth initiative.

The successful candidate will develop and lead an independent, extramurally funded research program aligned with the academic and scientific mission of the Department of Emergency Medicine. The position offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with access to the resources of an academic health sciences center, including affiliations with OU Health, the College of Medicine, and the broader OUHC research community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining an independent research program supported by external funding.
  • Publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at national and international scientific meetings.
  • Collaborating with clinical and basic science faculty across the College of Medicine.
  • Mentoring trainees, including medical students, residents, graduate students, and junior faculty.
  • Contributing to departmental and institutional service activities as appropriate to rank.

Required:

  • PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Evidence of potential to develop or maintain an independently funded research program.

Preferred:

  • Postdoctoral research experience.
  • Track record of extramural funding or strong potential for federal funding (NIH, NSF, DoD, or equivalent).
  • Research interests aligned with the mission of Emergency Medicine (e.g., resuscitation science, acute care, trauma, neurologic emergencies, sepsis, health services research, or related fields).
  • Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary research environments.
