Salary Range
$68,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Building Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance operations of campus buildings, ensuring facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained to support the University's academic and operational needs. Reporting to the Director of Grounds & Building Maintenance, the Supervisor manages a team of full-time and temporary staff and coordinates maintenance activities across multiple buildings and systems.
This position plays a critical role in executing maintenance strategies, managing work orders, and ensuring service delivery aligns with institutional priorities and service level expectations. The Supervisor works closely with other campus partners, including Service Delivery, Health & Safety, Housing, and IT, to provide a unified and responsive approach to campus operations.
The role operates in a complex campus environment supporting academic, residential, and event-driven facilities with varying operational demands. This role is both supervisory and hands-on, with the expectation that the Supervisor actively performs work orders, particularly complex, high-risk, or high-priority maintenance tasks that require advanced technical skill or immediate response, to support the team and ensure timely service delivery.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree*
2. Five (5) years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations or a related field.
3. Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
4. Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems.
5. Experience managing work orders and exhibiting strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience in higher education or large campus environments.
2. Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or related fields).
3. Experience with CMMS platforms such as Brightly.
4. Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and asset lifecycle management.

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
