Job Description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Experimental Physical Chemistry/Quantum Dot Research with a starting date of August 16, 2026, and teaching one course per semester.  The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry encourages applications from all interested and qualified parties.  Our mission statement and other information can be found at chem.ou.edu.

The successful candidate will have experience in materials science, photosensitizers, and specifically, quantum dots, to complement the department's emerging strengths. Consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in light detection and ranging applications and in studies involving single-particle imaging of quantum dots.  In addition, we are interested in candidates who complement other research areas in the department and conduct research that would be of interest to the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense.  The candidate will help to elevate the department's overall research agenda, support strategic initiatives, and promote the new graduate program in Materials Science.  The candidate will help elevate the department's research agenda, support strategic initiatives, and align with the OU Strategic Theme of "Energy, Environment and Sustainability".  Considerations will also be given to candidates whose research infrastructure needs are related to the department's existing faculty and can be met by leveraging departmental infrastructure.  The department is looking for a innovative teacher and colleague prepared to inspire our undergraduate and graduate students in chemistry and biochemistry.

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields, and preferably postdoctoral research experience.
