Responsibilities*
Provide routine instructions to patients regarding procedures, treatments, and follow-up care instructions as delegated by Licensed clinicians
Participate in the pre-procedure time out process.
Assist with and sometimes chaperone complex procedures such as flexible sigmoidoscopy, biopsy, cystoscopy, fluoroscopy, ultrasounds, rectal ultrasounds, thyroid aspirations, and esophageal dilations.
Management of instrumentation for procedures.
Assist with dressing changes for trauma burn and wound care patients.
Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed
May complete general administrative duties as assigned including; Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Disability and Return to Work forms, Electronic Medical Record in-basket messages, etc.
Complete other clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
High school diploma or GED.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR current enrollment in, or completion of coursework in a healthcare professional program (e.g., medical school, PA program, nursing program, or related clinical training) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (1 - 3 years).
Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows, patient care, and basic medical terminology.
Desired Qualifications*
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA).
Experience working within a large complex health care setting.
Familiarity with electronic medical records system.
Experience working in a surgical or procedural outpatient or inpatient setting.
