Job Purpose
The Department of Family and Community Medicine and Behavioral Sciences, College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Medical Education to commence appointment in the Fall semester of the Academic Year 2026/2027.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching, curriculum management, and educational innovation, and secure external funding or research grants in addition to teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Health Professions Education, including the Master of Leadership in Health Professions Education and the PhD in Health Professions Education.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to teaching, assessment, and academic supervision of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Health Professions Education, including the Master of Leadership in Health Professions Education and the PhD in Health Professions Education across the College of Medicine and the Medical Education Centre.
2. Support, advance, and lead innovation in undergraduate and postgraduate medical curricula within the College of Medicine.
3. Develop and implement Faculty Development Programs aimed at enhancing teaching excellence, educational scholarship, and academic practice.
4. Mentor junior faculty members and post doctoral fellows in educational research and scholarly activities.
5. Secure external funding or research grants.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Doctoral degree (PhD) in Medical Education, Clinical Education, Health Professions Education, or a closely related discipline. Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) would be an added advantage.
2. Minimum of three years of relevant academic experience in medical or health professions education.
3. Demonstrated excellence in research, evidenced by publications in high impact, peer reviewed journals in Health Professions Education.
4. Proven leadership in teaching, assessment design, curriculum development, and educational innovation.
5. Experience in technology enhanced learning, digital education platforms, and contemporary assessment methodologies.
6. Demonstrated experience in medical or health professions curriculum management.
7. Strong and sustained record of scholarly research in Health Professions Education.
8. Experience in planning and delivering faculty development workshops, seminars, and educational training programs.
